All About My Digital Licenses

I love sharing my art with the world, but in order to keep my work sustainable so I can keep creating, the ways you are allowed to use it are limited.

When you purchase a download for my site, you’ll be asked to select a license type. A license is an agreement that tells you what’s okay and what’s not okay to do with my art. More expensive licenses include a few more permissions, while the most affordable license includes basic access.

SUMMARY OF LICENSE TYPES:

Here’s a quick rundown of the license types. If you aren’t sure, keep reading to learn more about the specific rules for each license type:
Personal Use: This means you can only use the artwork for yourself, like printing it for your room or photocopying it for your journal, but you can’t use it for any kind of work, like teaching, coaching, or counseling.
Single Professional Use: If you’re a professional like a therapist, you can use it with clients you personally meet with, but not for things like putting it in online courses or on websites. You also cannot share it with another therapist.
Shared Professional Use: If you work with other professionals in a group, like in a therapy office, you and up to 6 of your colleagues, can use it with your clients, but you can’t republish it (even in DIY workbooks, binders, or websites.)
Custom Republishing: This is for when you want to use the artwork in a bigger way, like in presentations, websites, or workshops. You’ll have to request permission and my team will set you up with an appropriate fee.

More Details on Licensing Types

Personal Use License

A personal use license allows resources to be used, printed, and copied by a single individual for personal use only. This license excludes any form of professional work including coaching, counseling, or education. Purchasing a personal license and then using the asset for professional use is a copyright violation that may result in legal penalties.

This license does not include rights to republish in any format, including on blogs and websites, except under the condition of my Social Media Repost Policy.

Single Professional Use License

A single professional use license is for one practitioner to use with their direct clients. Resources purchased under this license may be reproduced for use by therapists, counselors, coaches, etc in their direct work with clients (this includes 1:1 meetings and group-therapy settings, as long as the participants are direct clients in part of your ordinary course of work*). The resource may be used with an unlimited number of clients, as long as they are the direct clients of the purchaser.

This license does not include rights to republish in mailing lists, online courses, or on blogs or websites.

*ordinary course of work includes, for example, therapists in IOP programs leading group therapy, school counselors working with a small group of peer mentors, etc. However if that therapist launched a for-profit e-course on leadership skills or that counselor began booking speaking engagements on developing peer mentorship programs and wanted to use my art, these uses would be considered extra-ordinary and would not be included in a single professional use license. (Questions? Please feel free to ask me.)

Shared Professional Use License

A shared professional use license covers use by up to six practitioners within the same organization to use with their direct clients. Resources purchased under this license may be reproduced for use by up to six practitioners within one business or organization. The resource may be used with an unlimited number of clients, as long as they are the direct clients of the purchaser’s organization, business, or practice.

This license does not include rights to republish in mailing lists, online courses, or on blogs or websites.

Custom Republishing License

A custom republishing license is required to use my art beyond the context of one-on-one work with direct clients. This includes using illustrations in presentations, trainings, workshops, mailing lists, websites and beyond. Custom licensing rates vary by the illustration, type of use, reach, and for-profit or non-profit status.

Note: At this time I am not granting permission or licensing to republish the Emotion Sensation Wheel in books, workbooks, or other professionally bound materials.
