Tips for Printing My Art
For smooth, crisp lines on a standard 8.5 x 11 page, these settings usually work best:
- Select “Fit to Page” or “Shrink Oversize Pages.”
- Choose “High-Quality Printing.”
- Use bright white paper and a fresh ink cartridge.
How to Print on A4 Paper
My printables are designed for an 8.5 inch x 11 inch letter-sized page. To print in A4 size, set your printer settings to “fit to page,” and your printer should be able to scale the existing PDF to fit on an A4 page.
In the print options there will be a choice to print “actual size” or “fit to page” (sometimes called “scale to page”). If you select this option, select it. Then the system will adjust the image to print within the allowed margins.

More tips for getting art-quality prints of my art while using a standard home printer:
- MATTE PAPER – Matte paper usually gives my illustrations and sketch-notes a softer, cleaner look than glossy photo paper.
- TURN OFF AUTO – Automatic printer color correction can make my artwork print darker, duller, or oversaturated.
- USE REAR FEED – Thick paper feeds more smoothly through the rear paper tray and is less likely to curl or jam.
- USE GOOD PAPER – Bright white paper usually gives cleaner colors and sharper black lines than standard office paper.
- RUN A TEST – Before printing a full page, print a small section first to check color, contrast, and sizing.
- WATCH BORDERLESS – Borderless printing can crop the edges slightly. Leave a small white border if exact sizing matters, trim later.
- CLEAN PRINT NOZZLES – Printing something small every week or two can help prevent clogged ink nozzles. If you don’t print full color often, open your printer settings and clean your print nozzles first.
